The High's collections include African American decorative arts, European folk modern contemporary art, and photography. In November of 2005, the new 177,000-square-foot expansion of the High Museum, fashioned by Italian architect Renzo Piano, added three new buildings surrounding a public piazza which more than doubles the Museum's size to 312,000 square feet—allowing the High to display more of its growing collection.
